The Woodstock Music and Art Fair in 1969 has still proven to be the most seminal gathering of rock, blues and jazz fusion in popular music history, and countless outdoor festivals try to emulate this vibe every summer. With the help of Tony Award © Nominee Mary Bridget Davies, we celebrate the sounds of Sly, Santana and Janis as we create our own jazz infused Woodstock experience.

We are delighted to welcome Clevelander and Tony Award© Nominee Mary Bridget Davies to join us for an evening of groovy music, nostalgia, and more!

Mary Bridget Davies is an acclaimed, Tony Awardⓒ nominee and a Northeast Ohio native. Davies’ relationship with the Blues and Joplin is long–and started here in Cleveland. In the early 2000’s she began jamming with local Blues musicians. In 2005 she landed the lead in a touring production of Love, Janis. From there she began touring Europe with Janis Joplin’s original band, Big Brother and Holding Company.

She received a Tony Awardⓒ Nomination for Best Lead Actress in a Musical for her performance in the title role of A Night with Janis Joplin. This role and nomination led to a series of similar honors, including a Helen Hayes Award nomination in 2013 and numerous Blues Blast Awards. She received the 2014 LA Outer Critic’s Circle Award and the 2014 Theatre World Award.

In 2019, Davies recorded an album entitled Stay With Me: The Reimagined Songs of the late Jerry Ragovoy—the legendary songwriter who co-wrote the Joplin classics “Piece Of My Heart” and “Cry Baby”. Ragovoy wrote one of the featured songs on the 2019 album “Don’t Compromise Yourself” for Joplin; however, due to her untimely death she never recorded it. Davies not only recorded the song, but it inspired her current album title, “Don't Compromise Yourself”. Davies also recorded the acoustic version of the song on her latest album, Don't Compromise Yourself: The Very Best of Mary Bridget Davies.

In addition to performing the works of Janis Joplin worldwide, Davies can be seen acting in New York, Los Angeles, and Cleveland. In 2022, Davies starred as Virginia Woolf in the developmental readings of A Room Of One’s Own, a play with original music at New York’s legendary cabaret 54 Below and The Public Theater’s Joe’s Pub. In 2023, she appeared as the Narrator in the Beck Center for the Arts’ production of Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. She recently appeared in Women Who Rock You at The Public Theatre’s Joe’s Pub. She co-directed and reprised her role as Janis Joplin at Axelrod/Bell Theatre and Santa Barbara’s Ensemble Theatre Company. Davies will be performing in the “Women Who Rock You “concert series Summer/Fall 2026.
