The Cleveland Jazz Orchestra is delighted to introduce its new Interim Executive Director, Lenora Inez Brown!
Lenora Inez Brown joins the Cleveland Jazz Orchestra as its Interim Executive Director. Lenora has over 25 years of experience as an arts administrator. As an arts leader she has produced new play festivals, created education and community engagement programs and overseen a professional orchestra. Lenora currently serves on the Assembly for the Arts board and is the board’s Governance Chair. Lenora has written two dramaturgy textbooks: New Play Development: Facilitating Creativity for Dramaturgs, Playwrights, and Everyone Else and The Art of Active Dramaturgy: Transforming Critical Thought into Dramatic Action. She has authored a number of chapters including a chapter on Cleveland native Adrienne Kennedy in Bloomsbury/Methuen’s series Decades of Modern American Drama Volume 6: Playwriting in the 1960s. She served as a member of the artistic team and a project dramaturg for The Sundance Theatre Labs 2000 and 2001. She is a past president of the Theatre for Young Audiences/USA board and the ASSITEJ 2011 Congress Advisory Committee. She will serve as an adjunct professor at Baldwin Wallace spring term 2026. Lenora holds a B.A. from Dartmouth College, an MFA in Dramaturgy and Dramatic Criticism from the Yale School of Drama, and an MBA from Cleveland State University.
