John Klayman
John is one of the most in-demand tenor saxophonists in the Northeast Ohio area. He is highly regarded as an all around woodwind player and jazz soloist. Klayman began his professional career playing in a summer resort band in New Jersey while attending The Ohio State University. After college, he joined The Tommy Dorsey orchestra under the direction of Buddy Morrow as a featured soloist. After settling in the Cleveland area, Klayman’s reputation as an outstanding multi-reed player made him a first-call musician for pit orchestras and recording studios. He is a charter member of the Cleveland Jazz Orchestra and featured tenor sax soloist with the CJO. He has appeared with a variety of guest artists and performers, including Tony Bennett, Johnny Mathis, Paquito D’Rivera, Lew Soloff, Bill Dobbins, Jon Faddis, Bill Holman, Lou Rawls, Leslie Uggams, The
Temptations, The Four Lads, Melissa Manchester, The Spinners, The Four Tops, Mitzi Gaynor, Ann-Margaret, Manhattan Transfer, David Sanborn, Bob Hope, and Phyllis Diller. Recordings include “Night and Day” with Barbara Knight and The Cleveland

John can be heard leading
his own quartet in area clubs and concerts and has appeared as a soloist/clinician at numerous area high schools and colleges. He is a graduate of the School of Business Administration of The Ohio State University in Columbus from which he holds
a degree in Marketing.
